Project Duration

Ongoing Partnership since 2020

Building a global editorial platform for immersive storytelling.

Kcymaerxthaere spans over 151 site-specific installations worldwide, weaving fictional histories and local mythologies into physical spaces. As the project expanded internationally, Noran Design partnered with its creators to design a scalable publishing system capable of documenting each installation across cultures, languages, and regions.

Challenge

Designing for language, culture, and scale simultaneously.

Each publication exceeded 500 pages and needed to support content in 26 languages — including right-to-left scripts such as Arabic and complex character systems like Chinese and Tamil. Beyond translation, the design required typographic precision, cultural sensitivity, and visual cohesion. Production also had to scale across more than 20 countries using both traditional printing and print-on-demand workflows.

Solution

A modular multilingual editorial framework.

We developed an adaptive layout system supporting both LTR and RTL scripts while preserving visual harmony. Carefully selected typefaces ensured readability across diverse languages, supported by flexible grid structures for varying text density. Two parallel print workflows were engineered — one for high-volume offset production and one for global POD distribution — ensuring consistent quality worldwide.

Nicole and the team impressed us with their speed, precision, and creativity. Their attention to both visual and linguistic detail was critical for a complex, multilingual project spanning over twenty languages. They delivered with clarity, charm, and incredible efficiency — a rare and powerful combination. Highest possible marks.
