About Us

Built in Colchester. Recognised nationally.

Noran Design started in Colchester and has grown from here into a studio working with 130+ organisations across 15 countries. In 2026, we were named East of England Global Startup of the Year at the UK Startup Awards — competing against some of the fastest-growing businesses in the region.

We're not a large agency. We're a focused team of four that works closely with a select number of clients at any one time — which means the quality of attention you get from us is genuinely different from what a larger studio can offer.

Colchester is one of the oldest cities in Britain and one of the most economically active in Essex — with a growing technology sector, a significant university presence through the University of Essex, and a strong base of independent businesses, charities, and social enterprises. You're not based in London — does that matter?

For the quality of work, no. We're based in Essex — 60 minutes from London — and work remotely with clients across the UK and internationally. The vast majority of our London client relationships happen entirely online, with no meaningful difference in output compared to a studio with a London postcode.

For in-person requirements, we can travel to London for key sessions — kickoffs, stakeholder presentations, or workshops. That's factored in rather than charged as an extra.

How do your rates compare to London agencies?

Significantly lower for comparable quality. A mid-size London brand or UX agency typically charges £8,000–£15,000 for a brand identity project and £10,000–£25,000 for a website. Our equivalent work starts from £5,000 and £6,000 respectively.

The difference is overheads, not output. We don't have Shoreditch rent to cover. That saving goes directly to you.

Can you work with our London-based team and stakeholders?

Yes — we work with distributed teams as standard. We use async-first communication, document everything clearly, and produce board-ready presentations for stakeholder reviews. London time zones are our native working hours, and we're responsive within the working day.

Do you have experience with London's startup and tech ecosystem?

Yes. We've worked with London-based startups at seed, Series A, and growth stages — on brand, product design, pitch materials, and digital infrastructure. Our founder previously worked at Expedia Group in a product and data role, so we understand the product-led growth model that many London tech companies operate under.

How quickly can you start?

For projects, typically within one to two weeks of scoping and sign-off. For retainers, onboarding begins immediately after the initial call. We keep capacity available and don't operate long waitlists — if we can take your project, we start promptly.

Do you offer specialist rates for London nonprofits or charities?

Yes. We have a dedicated nonprofit programme with reduced rates, Google Ad Grant management, EAA accessibility compliance, and grant funding support — available to London charities and social enterprises as well as those elsewhere in the UK.
